TV channel mix up
4 Answers
I have posted this question before and got some helpful replies but still haven't got it sorted.
Since the digital change over channel 1, 2 and 4 are Welsh. If we want to watch channel 4 this is now on 8, and channels 1 & 2 are on 806 & 807. Has anyone any idea how we can get them on the correct number. It is a Panasonic TV model TC-32LZD80.
Thanks a lot.

You either have an older antenna (or a wrongly aligned one) that is picking up the Welsh channels from their transmitter, or receiving signals off the back of the reflector on the antenna.
This is a technical issue that may right itself after changeover is completed. You will possibly sort it by fitting a high quality, more directional antenna, a special group amplifier or a filter.
Either way, you will need advice from someone local like installer who can look, check and see what's happening.

Since Digital switchover Transmitter power has increased dramatically and you will be receiving signal from the most powerful i.e Llanddona (Anglesey) instead of Winter Hill (Lancashire). I am assuming you live in Cheshire or Lancashire as both these Transmitter boom out across the Irish Sea resulting in Welsh viewers receiving English and English viewers receiving Welsh.
Not much you can do about it unless a very Directional Aerial can overcome the problem.
Wales and NW England are now on Full Digital.

Try fitting a Triax Unix antenna. They have narrow acceptance and strong rear signal rejection characteristics. As I said earlier, some older antennas receive signals off of the back of the rear reflector, which is bad.
Put your postcode in here .. and pick the correct transmitter for your channel set, then read off the antenna suggestion and strength.

A new aerial seems a bit extreme if the TV is picking up the channels OK but just putting them on the wrong channel numbers. Why not just manually tune it so the correct channels are in the correct place?
