Low running cost printer/scanner?

I'm looking for a reasonably priced printer/scanner that doesnt cost a fortune in cartridges.... maybe I should be looking for separate printer and scanner? Any suggestions? Thanks..

If economy is your main aim for home-volume printing look at the cost of replacement/re-filling cartridges before you decide on a printer. Remember that some of the cheaper inks are for general use only and print a terrible photo and colours are not true.
Very few cheap compatable inks do a great job and are probably responsible for more printers ending up in the dump than any other cause.
