I am looking for something basic, as long as it can make and receive calls and send texts.

What mobile do you have? Would you replace it with the same make if it packed up?

Thanks for any replies. xxx

Thanks all. There's so many to choose from, it's driving me bonkers! I'm not one for chatting on mobiles but I do need one in case of emergencies.
who is going to be your provider Mrs C?

This is where I get confused craft (it don't take much). The phone I am replacing says One-2-One on the screen. I would like to keep the same telephone number as the old phone, as it is easy to remember.

I know this is something to do with locking and unlocking - I guess I'm not that good with new technology. [:o(
I only ask 'cos I only really have mine for emergencies, when I'm in the car so it's hardly ever used.
Given that, a contract phone is too expensive so I went to Virgin on monthly pay-as-you-go. There's no contract, they just take the amount I've used by direct debit each month, sometimes it's been zero but they don't seem bothered,
Loads offer so many calls and texts for x amount each month but if you're not going to use it that's no good to me.

I really only want one for urgent calls/emergencies craft, so I expect I could go weeks and weeks without using it.

My niece gave me her old one a short while ago. It's a Sony Ericsson. I was very pleased with it but after a few days the screen went very dark and I couldn't read anything on display. I took it to a repair shop and the chap said it needed a new screen. Said it is expensive to replace and in his opinion I should buy another phone.

When I looked the Sony Ericsson up on the internet, I spluttered a bit when I saw it cost about seventy quid. Perhaps I'm not being realistic but I thought that was a bit much for a mobile phone.
you can get some cheap deals as well

Maybe its worth buying a mobile with a camera and one that can play music thta way you can take snaps of anything you fancy and you have all your favorite tunes in your pocket and you don't have to carry a digital camera or mp3 player any more.

Yes bigfoot, there's a thought ..... doesn't the music sound a bit tinny though? Surely the speakers would be tiny?

Thanks for that link cazzz. I've had a look and there's loads to choose from. I am gonna try to find some reviews on them when I get the time.

I'm away to pick up a chinese takeaway, but I'll check back later. Thanks for replies all. x
Mrs C. Netto have a mobile phone for £9.99 from tomorrow. LG pay as you go on T Mobile. We don't have a netto in local area. Maybe you do.

Not at all mrschappie I have a great bluetooth speaker so I can listen to music from my phone without any wires and if you get good earphones then its some great sounds!
Mr mac got a samsung from argos for 7.99 a couple of months ago. It's really basic (he's not a gadget man) and he just put his old sim card in so he kept his number - no unlocking needed. Although it says on the site you have to but a sim and £10 credit with it, he just ordered the phone and that was what he got. Just checked and it's even cheaper now!

Thanks all, sorry for late reply - only just had the chance to post (been at the hospital all day with a chap who is very poorly).

I popped into Netto earlier and bought one for £9.99! Can't believe it's so cheap. So far I'm very pleased with it. I'll go back and buy another for my OH.

Thanks very much for posting the links - much appreciated. xxx
