any simple solutions to help me see my laptop screen more clearly when outside

the weather´s fine, perfect for using my pc outside, trouble is i normally cant see a thing, due to the brightness of the daylight

Turn the screen brightness up is the logical answer.

How to do It varies slightly depending on make of laptop (I assume it's a laptop if you are using it outside!) but look around the keyboard for a couple of keys with little extra pics of suns on them (normally one of the arrow keys or somewhere like F8 and F9) when you find them hold down the FN key and use the keys with the suns on them to adjust brightness.

No matter how bright I set my laptop, it still is not useable in the sunlight. It has a very reflective screen.
I have codged a sort of sunshade for it from an old cardboard box. Not ideal but does the job.

hc's answer has the added benefit of making your laptop look slightly like a mid 80's microfiche machine :)
