Hi, Im sure ive had this problem before but cant remmember how to fix it. Out of teh blue my comp running xp has decided that it will hang on start up. The only way around it is to start in safemode, then to restart whilst in safemode to normal mode and that will work fine

However I cant simply switch it on and have it load up, I have to go through teh safemode option every single time, any ideas? cheers

Start in safe mode, click start, run then type msconfig.

click startup tab and untick all boxes.

Reboot, then repeat above, adding in one at a time.

This will take a while but you should isolate the rogue program.

Hi mattie, I tried doing this but even when disabling all the start up procedures it still would not restart. Problem is nothing significant has changed with the PC, I installed ad-aware and avg which have both been on previously with no problem
Tried the System Restore to take XP back to when it was running ok?
