E mail software changed

I had a problem with the system I used for my E mails,
a few weeks ago I tried to send a lot of photos to a freind,
outlook express did not like this cmmand and revolted , from that day outlook express
puts outbound e mails in an outbox and continually sends the same message to the same person.

I have now installed Mozilla thunderbird to manage my e mails
Thunderbird had a setup wizard which as exported a lot of my emails from outlook express to thunderbird.

What is happening now that Thunderbird has become the software for my outbound mail
but inbound e mails come into Outlook express,

Okay this works but i would sooner have all my mail (in and out ) in the same place (thunberbird)

Could someone tell what settings ant changing and how to do this

Make sure that Outlook Express is not running - don't have it start with WIndows - that way the messages will still be there for Thunderbird to access.

Or, you could just Open OE, open the outbox, and delete its contents.
