Right - can we go back to the beginning? You are registered with gravatar.com with the same email address that you use for AB?
you've picked your avatar, it's showing against your address on gravatar, and you've checked it? you should get a message up saying "this may take a few minutes to show,, etc"
Come back to AB, go to your profile, edit your profile. See if the avatar is showing, if not click the box to say you want to activate it, then go to the bottom of the page and click submit.
Come back on AB, do a test post, wait a few minutes then Control F5.
It is difficult for some people, you are not alone, but perservere!
