IE running without Prompt
What would cause Internet Explorer to rack up hundreds of Files in a matter of minutes when I'm only using one site at present and that is AnswerBank. It is making my PC sluggish and at times unresponsive. I am using IE8 and it seems to be running out of control so to speak.
I'm using CCleaner to clean up every 5 mins or so and the number of files listed is in the hundreds.
My PC seems to be 'racing' as if there was something running in the background which should not be and it's only started happening over the last couple of days ! Strange...

If you really think the amount is suspicious then a scan with malwarebytes and with your virus software is probably in order.

Have done a Malwarebytes scan Chuck but nothing shows up. Do you think it might be something to do with the Answerbank site itself i.e The Adverts requiring and Active X Control or whatever to display them. Something on the AB Page seems to set the whole thing off (Temp Files)
Weird things these PC's especially as I'm not Computer Literate enough to deal with the problem !

That could well be the problem Chuck, because as you rightly point out they are a lot more intrusive than they used to be. Cannot be 100% sure that is the cause but it certainly adds to the problem. I have the choice of several Browsers but have stuck with IE8 as have not had any problems with it really as I do keep all my Updates up to date. Thanks for your help once again. Wish I knew as much about PC's as you Chuck, was OK with my job aboard ship but never had any training on Computer Programming so I'm lost really ! lol
Just identified the problem Chuck ! Did a Full Scan with Microsoft Security Essentials (almost 2hrs) and it found 3 Trojans attached to Java Script Update by Sun Systems and deleted them. I have uninstalled Java Script as well as a precaution as I don't trust the damn thing now. Do I really need it ?
Java is used in a lot of things so you may find problems without it, but fortunately most things that require Java are on-line and they will normally be OK because modern browsers have javascript built into them. most stuff that needs it will also tell you if it's not there, so just leave it off until you come across something that tells you it requires Java and then decide if it's that important for whatever it is to work or not.
