email to hotmail accounts

I have just sent a number of emails to friends - some have hotmail accounts. However, all 3 '@hotmail.com' emails have been bounced back by automatically generated Delivery Notifications, but no reason has been given. Any ideas please folks?

There should be a reason in the bounced mail somewhere. Are you sure there isn't an attached text file...?

There is an attachment, described 'ATT00018.dat' but I can't open it. Other than this it just says 'This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification. Delivery to the following recipients failed.'

Sorry - I didn't say that the file reference is different for each of the three rejections

Open it with Notepad - that should give the reason why the email bounced...

I know I'm slow when it comes to PCs, but I've opened notepad, but then what?

1) Right click the attachment and save it somewhere

2) Open Notepad

3) File, Open...

It says this:
'Diagnostic-Code: smtp;552 5.2.2 This message is larger than the current system limit or the recipient's mailbox is full.
Create a shorter message body or remove attachments and try sending it again.'
The original emails had 8 photos attached - I guess I now try to send with just 2 or 3 photos and see what happens. I could also reduce the size of the pics. Anyway, many thanks.

Try zipping the pics ..
and do not send via any ISP larger than 10Mb at one time.

.. so you are sending larger than your ISP allows, or exceeding the mailbox size limit of your contact(s)
Zipping may reduce the size a lot, depending on format used.

Yeah - I now discover that for years adding photos as attachments without checking the size is wrong. What I did was to highlight all the photos I want to send then right click and 'send to recipients'. This gives me the opportunity to reduce the size of the pics. Not only have they gone (which is good), but the speed of sending them surprised me; so fast!! Thanks again for all your help.
