hiya, what's a safe way to transfer money on line into my bank account?
i thought i could with pay pal, but that's only for buying things online

As others have pointed out, all cheques have the account holder's sort code and account number on them. So, in general, there's no great risk in letting others know those details. (Nobody can simply 'clear out' your account, leaving no trace of where your money has gone to).
However if some mischievous person wanted to, say, set up a direct debit from your account to a charity, it would be easy for them to do so. (You'd be able to get your money back but it could be very inconvenient, particularly if it led to you going overdrawn).
