Adobe PhotoShop 8.0

I have used PSE for many years, but I wonder if anyone knows if there is an alternative to Adobe.

I would prefer a trial period, but I feel myself getting stale and lazy, so I may even consider purchasing something on spec, to stimulate the grey-matter

Adobe has really helped me to turn-around some fairly dull pictures, but I think it may be time for a change.

I looked at the sites, and I'm not sure they will work for me. But, as the price is right, I'll try them for a few weeks and then make a decision.

GIMP is powerful but has a significant learning curve. It is going to be around a long time and just keeps improving. Worth the effort to learn.

Another good free alternative is Paint.Net It is a bit easier to learn though has less features.

I am rapidly discovering, I've a lot to learn before I can make an informed decision.

And I am very grateful for all the feedback; it is invaluable in order to find an alternative that will work for me
