So long as not bigger format or outside the accepted standard in another way.
TBH .. There are better Philips machines .. and they use the same processor chip. I have a couple .. DVP5980, 5990. Easy to change to Multi-region and firmware upgradeable. USB2 input.
It does have the card reader tho .. that's only difference.

AlBags how can you tell it plays those formats when it doesn't mention them on the specification? Is it also called something else?

Because of the other formats it plays.
You really are better off with Philips (or Sony) tho.
