I wouldn't hesitate in telling the manufacturer of the appliance what has happened.
As ummmm has indicated.....if it's less than twelve months old, it's still under guarantee.
It must have been quite a frightening experience and the least the manufacturers can do is to supply you with a new glass plate. If you haven't got an address for the manufacturer, contact whomsoever you bought the appliance from; because, in my opinion, they also have a legal liability in matters. Trading Standards Office will advise you a course of action, if you telephone your Local Authority.
