Tesco mobile seems to be doing well

Have you or anyone else got a contract with them? Howare their priceplans and phones compared to others as I read the other day that their I-phone works out cheaper and better value than any of the other phone giants. Any views?

The key thing to remember is that firms like Tesco and Asda don't own any transmitter masts (or the associated infrastructure that goes with them). Tesco uses the O2 network to provide its mobile phone service. So you'll get exactly the same signal strength (or lack of it) with Tesco as you will with O2. (Asda uses the Vodafone network).

I've recently been comparing mobile phone prices and tariffs, with a view to replacing my own phone. I'll almost certainly use Asda PAYG, as they seem to offer the best deals for me. However they've not the distribution rights from Apple which would enable them to provide the iPhone. If that's definitely what you want, Tesco will probably offer the best deal:
