My OH has treated himself to a new comp for his 60th birthday. When its switched off, we get a lot of interference on our bedside radio. The old one did this when it was switched on, but once it closed down, it was ok, so why does this new one affect our radio ?

Probably because it's not actually switched off. Assuming that it's running Windows7:
Control Panel
System and Security
Power Options/Change what the power buttons do
Select "Shut down" for the power buttons setting (it's probably set to "sleep")

rojash- I`ve tried everything you`ve said, but it hasn`t altered anything. I`ve even switched the power off on the computer. Do you think it could be the router thats causing the problem as before we just had a modem
Is it a wireless router? Then quite possibly
Are you using it wirelessly? If not, you can disable the wireless part
What make model router?
