Hotmail won't do attachments - redirect to inbox

pretty much what it says in the title. It'll let me write and send emails just fine, but if i want to add an attachment it keeps sending me straight back to inbox when the 'choose your file to be attached' window pops up. It is doing my head in! any ideas why it's doing this? Is anyone else even having this same problem? or is it just me?
