I've lost everything!

Help! I turned my laptop on this morning, after working on it until quite late llast night, when everything was perfectly normal, and this morning I've got a different desktop, no Internet Explorer or Windows mail - it's as if it is an entirely different computer! None of my files are there, and I've tried to do a system restore, but the only date that comes up is todays date. When I signed on first thing, the screen went black first of all and I have two options to sign on, as Administrator or my own account, is it possible that I've changed identities? I'm the only person who ever uses that laptop. I've closed it down for now, and am typing this on my very old laptop, which fortunately still works. Any help gratefully received, as I've got a lot of files there that I need.!

Some is backed up, but not the last fortnights work.

I've just come in, and turned the laptop on, and it's as if nothing had happened! So I'm going to back up everything now, and thank you squarebear.

Great news! You are wise in deciding to back things up and should really do it more regularly.
