Configuring Zoom Router/Modem to Connect to AOL
I bought a new router/modem, a Zoom X6 5590. I'm having difficulty getting it to connect to my internet account with AOL (say no more). I read on one website that I should use encapsulation PPPoE VC-MUX, with VPI 0, VCI 38. Tried this - no joy. Now I read on other sites that other people have different views. Bit confused. Don't want to contact AOL because they are terrible to deal with, are in India, and I find them hard to communicate with. Any advice?
I am going to change from AOL because basically they are a pain, and although I used to find them good, now give me just 576 Kbps all the time. However I thought it might be better to make sure the new router is working okay before I introduce another change - so I don't get into the situation where I don't know if any problems I encounter are caused by the new router or the ISP change. Starting to think it may be better to just go to the new provider.
