On which transmitter? They're all different!
Question Author
Oh didnt know that. I have a sky + box and to me, living on ROI. I have to tune in all itv channels and BBC 3 & 4, and Cbeebies in as "other channels" . I was wondering if I could pick up Channel5 the same way. So can't give any other technical info
Oh, now I know that it's on Sky (which uses completely different frequencies to terrestrial transmitters), this might help:

However I note that the 'Five' group of channels are (unlike the BBC channels) encrypted. To the best of my knowledge you should still be able to view them as long as you've got a valid card in the box but the only way to be sure is to try it.

ok. found the listings but channel is not available. Possibly have to pay someone for it. Not important enough.
Thanks for the help though.
Hi Mrsladybug, loath as i am to contradict buenchico I am at this very moment receiving channel 5 on astra 2A @10.772 gigaherz. I am receiving this on a cheap free box in france, no reason why you shouldn't get this as it is aimed at UK
men in black at the moment
Thanks for that, Jomifl.

10.773GHz (which is what it should be if it's tuned in properly) is actually an Astra 2D frequency where Five has borrowed space on a BBC Fresat transponder for just that one channel from its portfolio. (Other members of the group, such as Fiver and Five US remain unavailable ).

The footprint for Astra 2D suggests that it should be possible to receive it in Ireland, so your suggestion is definitely well worth Mrs LB trying:

For other channels available from Astra 2D see the listings here:
