Am not going to be using my car for six weeks - end of Nov to 2nd week in January. It will be garaged as normal and I will have the anti freeze checked before I go. It's a diesel - should I disconnect the battery and if so how do I do it and when I reconnect it is there anything I should be especially careful of? I know I will have to re-enter my radio code.
well as the clock has decided not to work for the past year I guess I'm not disconnecting. Thank you cos it will certainly make it easier when i get back. Appreciate your reply.
If you disconnect the battery you'll definitely have the "side effects" such as entering radio code.... if you leave it then you probably won't have those "side effects"
I left my van for 6 weeks with no problems from the battery. I park it on the drive, so I did leave the handbrake off and chock one wheel so the handbrake didn't stick on (ie the shoes 'rusting' on to the drum).
as always Abers have covered most eventualitites - really appreciate all answers and am going to leave car as is - in the garage, battery connected, handbrake off and awaiting my return with trembling anticipation. Thank you
Ctek is a small intellegent trickle charger/conditioner. I use mine on my little used Triumph Spitfire and it is alsways ready to go! I have permanent connectors attached to th battery which has a simple in line connector to make hook up easy.
