Why am I suddenly getting e-mails from people I have never heard of asking me to remove them from my mailing list?? I haven't opened any of these in case they are harmful but have had dozens in the last couple of days in both my inbox and junk mail

Spam emails are sent to a lists of email addresses that can number in the millions and they often just pick a random address from that list to use as the reply address on the mails and it looks like your address has been picked.

Nothing you can do, but it will probably only last a few days as they will simply pick another address at random for he next bunch they send out.
These idiots that reply to the "remove me from your mailing list" merely confirm their valid address to the spammer and will get more spam. NEVER EVER ask to be removed from a spam email list.

SB.... in this instance I don't think the people that are replying to them will be confirming anything to anyone (unless tasymorsel was the spammer in the first place)

but I agree that people who click on web addresses to be removed from a list are doing nothing but confirming it's a valid address.
it sounds like somone has used your email address to send out loads of spam.

All you are getting is the replies to these spam emails.
True in this case Chuck but the unfortunate recipients are not to know that.
