We have about 150 irreplaceable digital photos locked in a failed Fuji hard disk. Does anyone know where we could get these retrieved and the likely cost please?

Or simply do a search for data recovery, however, the procedure is not cheap, so it would have to be really worth it.
Also, consider buying a usb pen/flash drive for backup purposes, they are relatively cheap now so there is no excuse not to .
They are available from here http://www.crucial.com/uk/
This may sound like a joke, but it can actually work. While working in a computer repair shop we came across a similar problem. By boss told me to put the hard drive in the freezer for an couple of hours - I thought I was being wound up too. But it actually worked enough to get to the C:\ prompt and save some of the files to floppy disks. If you can get the HD this far then you could probably set it up a a slave on another computer and burn the photos to a CD.

Thank you guys for your suggestions. The trouble is I don't really know much about it. The computer where the photos were downloaded to belongs to one of our party who visited The Masters Golf Tournament inUSA. The photos were of the tournament generally with some of ourselves in front of various landmark locations. The hard disk is with a small IT company who have tried a few of their usual methods to no avail. I will have to get it back and then talk to Data Recovery suggested by mattie. Thanks again for your interest.
