Facebook has taken action against developers it caught selling user names and contact lists.

The sales were uncovered as Facebook investigated a web browser bug that let user IDs be shared inadvertently.

The user details were sold to data brokers who used the information to target adverts more precisely.

Facebook started investigating what was happening with user identifiers (UIDs) following media reports that the information and lists of contacts were being sold on to advertising firms.

It also discovered that some developers that create applications for the social network were taking the user IDs of those who used their creations and selling them on.

This is one reason why I don't use FaceBook society. The data could be used illegally and you could become the victim of identity fraud. Personal details could up anywhere.

Ebay and Paypal, I don't trust doing business with them. I've had some shady experiences with them.
I hear there's a big merger underway between Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.

Apparently they're going to call it You-Twit-Face.

ROFLMAO seriously that has really cheered me up cheers naz
I always feel I have to defend Facebook a little bit. You do have to be careful what you put on there but if you chose to splash your personal details all over any website then that's your problem really.

Lets face it, how do we know that AB aren't selling the details we gave on registering?
The details I gave won't do anybody much good, lol.
