No sound on my PC
For some reason the sound has gone on my PC. I've checked my speakers and they seem to be working OK on different machines.
I've also looked on the system/ hardware profiles on the control panel and my sound card seems to be there still with drivers fully installed etc. It's a Creative Soundblaster Audio PCI 128 if that's any help.
I've scanned for viruses with AVG but can't seem to find the cause.
Any suggestions...?

If you click on "Advanced" is it set to "no speakers" ?
Under the "Audio" tab, is there anything muted there?
If the speakers themselves seem fine on other machines are you plugging them into the correct bit of your soundcard?
After checking every available option 6 times on this section of the control panel, I'd maybe try clicking on the Hardware tab and then "troubleshoot".
I can imagine how frustrating this is for you!
Good luck.
Do you have anti-virus software ? If so is it up to date ?
Have you run a recent scan for viruses, trojans, spyware ?
What Operating syetm are you using ?
If your system is clean then I recommend uninstalling the software. Get the latest drivers from the Creative website, clean the Registry and reinstall.
i had a very similar problem recently.
Are you trying to play sound through just one type of software - eg Winamp? We were doing this, and it appeared, as you say, the speakes were not working. However, when we updated the version on Winamp, it resolved the problem. So it wasnt the speakers - it was the music software.
Just a thought!...
