Best place online to buy a memory stick

At the moment I have a PNY 4.0G mini attache memory stick from Tesco, which is now full. Where is the best place to buy one? I wouldn't mind an 8G depending on the price.

I use e-buyer (not e-bay) for stuff like this, have a look in CEX before you go online though - they can be pretty cheap.

It is not a good idea to keep files on memory sticks for too long as they are not totally reliable (and you may lose the memory stick).

A DVD can take over 4Gb of data so why not copy everything from your memory stick to a DVD (and a second DVD as a spare).

Then you can delete all the existing files off the memory stick.

I have lots of photos and whenever I put a DVD in the laptop it says there isnt enough space. What is the best DVD to buy and do they come in larger memory sizes or is this a silly question?

Yes they do, the standard DVD holds 4.7 gig, dual density ones hold about 8 gig - but make sure your DVD burner can handle them if you go for the latter.

VHG in what way are memory sticks unreliable? Can the information on them get deleted or what ?

Unreliable maybe ...if you stand on them .. or put in the washing machine. Bit of an overstatement.

He can only make that statement because of the assumption that they are electronic .. so will fail one day.
Replace every couple of years.
I use 6 .. from a 2Gb Toshiba to 16Gb Sandisk U3.

Buy a good name like Sandisk or Toshiba and there's little to worry about.

PS. I buy Original Sandisk with authentication direct from far east on eBay. Frankly, they cost nothing now.

And I am Not Technical at all. As I explained, I want a memory stick for my laptop so I can download mainly photos and some documents for a back up. is this what I need, and if not, can you tell me the exact name of it ?

That will do nicely .. Cheap too!
You can run applications (programs) from a stick .. There are apps made for them, also some apps are happy to run on them anyway. Like Firefox and Thunderbird. This makes your email completely portable between computers. If you want this, you should buy the Sandisk Cruzer U3 version. Looks the same.
