Some wireless router questions
2 Answers
Bare with me as I only have experience of wired connections and we are moving into a rented house shortly so I dont want to spend time running wires around the house.
I will be connecting several devices including 360's and laptops and also a pc. One of the 360's has wireless built in but I know I will have to get a wireless bridge add-on for the other to make it work and the laptops also have this built in but what about the pc?
This has nothing built in so am I right in saying that I simply need to purchase a wireless dongle to enable it?
Are there any dongles (or wireless routers for that matter) that come with the AB seal of approval that are also compatible with xbox live?
With a wired router obviously everything is always assigned to the same port e.g. 360 = port 2 is the same true of wireless or does it automatically assign to the first available port eg if the pc isnt on the 360 jumps to port 1? I ask as potentially 5 or 6 devices could be used to go online but not at the same time.
Sorry if these questions are a little obvious but I am a wireless noobie!

That is the simplest way of doing things. That way, the devices are independent of one another.
You will either need a wireless usb dongle for your PC or to buy a PCI wireless card to fit into a PCI slot. I personally use a wireless dongle for my desktop. It is a Linksys WUSB600N ver1, although I only use it in G mode. It works very well.
I have my wireless router directly attached to my net connection. Everything connects to it wirelessly, this includes: Win7 Desktop, Vista Laptop, Xbox360, PS3, iPhone 3Gs and iPod Touch. The wireless router does all the work of assigning ip's to the devices and they work seamlessly. The only reason you'd want to have the connection going through the PC first is to network the devices together.
