Many moons ago I had one of the first Toshiba laptops and I used thumb operated rollerball mouse attachment that actually plugged into the side of the computer. It was the best mouse I've ever had but unfortunately I let it go when I sold on the laptop some years ago. My latest laptop has one of those silly pads in the middle at the front and I just can't get on with it at all. Does anyone know if the mouse described above is still being made and, if so where I can get one please? I want one that actually plugs into the side of the computer as a detached one defeats the object of a laptop.
Many thanks.

Actually I think thats a US sight but you can check online with PC World, Comet, Play.com etc.
I have an optical one which I bought from a cheap discount store for £1.99 and it's brilliant.
*site (not sight) lol

Yes, but it's freestanding and doesn't actually fix into the side of the computer as if it were part of it. With mine the whole unit plugged into a port, the palm of my hand went under it and my thumb was free to scroll etc.
The best you are going to get is a wireless one.

If you've got a new laptop, a USB optical mouse plugs into the USB port on the side of your machine, and is every bit as good as your old rollerball. It doesn't get full of fluff, either!
Sorry, just read your post properly - I know what you want - saw one on eBay a while ago, might be worth trying. I'll go and have a look.
