player error

Sometimes once I have downloaded a video file from Kazaa, Morpheus I cannot play it as a pop-up box tells me player error. Can anyone tell me how I would manage to play this back?

it is usual to do with the codecs download relavant codecs and it should work. also avi and divx files can not be watched until finished
