i see where you are coming from mcmouse but people can be on a beach with their kids and people can take pics of them without the parents knowing its hard to control a lot of picture taking

I have my pictures locked on FB and I would not display pictures on here
I've posted pics of mini boo in the past, and very recently my grandson.

Yes if i sat and thought about it, I wouldn't do it, howrver if i sat and thought too deeply into lots of things nowt would get done.

If i step on that plane to go on holiday....
If I cross the road just here....
If i don't watch what im doing opening this tin of corned beef....

And so on and so on.
what are they going to do with these AB photos exactly?
ya, wot B00 said ^^^^^^

zzxxee.......I started this thread because of all the confusion surrounding pics of kids. The Data Protection people have confirmed it's OK for parents to take pics and videos of kids in Nativity plays etc, although many schools ban it. There are also lots of warnings about how and why you should restrict access to only trusted people on Facebook etc. Your point about people taking pics on a beach is valid, but I question the wisdom of posting a pic on AB.
I don't really think there is any problems with posting pics of very young babies, face it they all look like Winston Churchill anyhow (apart from being urinated against). I can see the concern with posting pics of older children though.
Why McMouse?

Most, if not all, of the pictures we post are of children or babiers, fully clothed etc. How can they be used?

And could pictures of babies and children such as the ones we've posted not be just as easily accessable via Google for example?
I had to lol @ that chuck ;)

Again why Chuck?

If for example i wanted to post a picture of Mini Boo who's 6, would that be a problem?
Personally, no I don't think that would be a problem, but firstly, I'm not a parent so may not have the same outlook as somebody who is, and secondly, I think I lot of modern concerns about a lot of the dangers in society are over hyped when they are no worse then they were years ago.

My point was meant to be I can understand why some would not want to post pictures of older children.
Chuck.....exactly....they all look the same (the babies)....so why post them. I have made that point many times and have been castigated, but I am glad that you (one of the establishment) has stated the obvious.

I have a shrewd idea.
if 30 odd years ago my mum had posted pics of me on the internet for eternity, i'd be a bit peed off to be quite frank. i had terrible hair, and acne.

BOO........you ask why. I don't know what peodos get from viewing kiddie pics, but we are bombarded with advice and warnings about safeguarding images of children. If there is no danger why are the authorities and child protection people so insistent about it?
-- answer removed --
oh right i see McMouse.

Yes i too have seen those warnings, but ive never found out why its such a massive problem. Yes i can see why posting nude pics of your kids on the web might be abused by someone else, but standard family pics??
