HELP!! Computer Gone Off and Making a Wheee Noise

I was checking my e mails on my computer when my little granddaughter pressed the Esc button. The screen went blank and then started making a wheeee noise.I've switched it off and back on again and there is still no picture and the noise is contin uing. Help!!!

Does any of the case feel very hot? Leave it for a few hours and report back here for other ab's to advise. Could be a problem with the internal fan causing overheat.

Is the noise coming from loudspeakers? Or internal noise?
This is a desktop PC .. right?

I'm on my laptop, the PC is my husband's but he works from it. The noise seems to be coming from the tower, our flat screen doesn't have speakers.

But is it an electronic sound? .. or a mechanical sound (inside tower)?

An electronic sound.

You could be hearing a noise from a RAM stick which could mean there is an issue with memory or a boot that has gone wrong. If you feel you are capable open up your case and boot the computer and see if you can hear where the noise is coming from. Another possibility could be that the fan on the graphics card if you have one fitted has seized or is partially seized. A cooling fan may have an issue as well and the computer may have overheated.

Thank you very much galeck. It sounds as though I need to "get a man in". Can this happen all of a sudden?

I got my "little man" in to look at my PC. He took the side off, took out two thin things, ran his fingers down them and put them back. Problem solved!! Apparently it was static building up. £20.00 and I got my PC back. Brilliant.
