Working with Layers in Photoshop Elements 2
I wish to replace the faces of three people in a photo with three other people. I have opened Photoshop and imported the photo and it has been labelled as the background layer. No problem with that. I then opened three more layers to take the faces of the three new people to put on top of the faces in the background image. However when I import the new face and select it it immediately opens it in a new background layer. How can I open the three new faces into the first imported photo of background that I want with the new layers as layer1 layer2 and Layer3 The book I have only shows how to work with the layers once they are created, and I am quite happy with doing that.
Thanks in advance for any help offered. I have looked at tutorials on the net and in photoshop but they all seem to start with the layers already in.

If you then open the 'face' images as separate 'New' pictures and select (with the Lasso/Pen/whater you prefer Tool) the face and Edit > Copy.
Then go back to your original bkg image and Edit > Paste - it will paste your selection automatically as a new layer, wheich you can then scale and edit as you wish.
