Im an English teacher in Spain, and a student asked me what "GENE." means on the screen of her tamagotchi. Its on the same screen as "AGE". Since I've never owned a Tamagotchi I dont know...

I guessed that its short for "generation". Is this right?

Also, it is possible to change the screen language of a Tamagotchi, to Spanish, French, German etc.?

It is a while since my children had Tamagotchis, but as far as I can remember they didn't have a language per se the needs of the pet were indicated by pictorial symbols. We actually bought ours whilst holidaying in France so would not have done so if the children weren't going to be able to understand the language. My daughter can't remember enough about hers to confirm your GENE part of the question
Yes I think it is short for generation. As newer tamagottchis can have babies, they can progress through several generations if well cared for!
