TROUBLE OPENING PAGES AND GETTING INTO ITUNES REDEEM SET-UP
16 Answers
I can access the internet via Google. No problem. Ditto using Safari browser or Firefox browser.
Sometimes when I click on a page it will go to it but take forever to try and open it before it gives up and fails to open!
My worst problem is in iTunes. I can preview all music in iTunes store, including latest releases.
However when I try to enter ''Redeem'' to add credit the same issue keeps coming up t tries, on ad on, to open the page before giving up. Deeply frustrating.
On Mac, what settings do I need to check ...and where. Is it proxy settings? Is it preferences?
Please please help! I sent an email to Apple support...but still heard nothing.
Have done a diagnostic on my internet set - all lights are green - connection is perfect etc etc.
Throw your suggestions at me.
Operating system is Mac 10.4 iTunes version is 9+...whichever is latest for 10.4 Mac

It would be unlikely that anything has changed in your prefs to be causing this, so try this first. Go to your applications folder, then Utilities, then Disk Utility. Select your main hard disk in the left column, in the centre window choose first aid (this will probably be selected automatically), then click Repair Permissions. This may take a while if you haven't done this recently (or at all). When it is complete restart your computer and try iTunes again

Take a look at your firewall. Go to System Preferences, Security, Firewall. Click Advanced, then enter your normal password. Go down the list to iTunes and make sure allow incoming connections is on (green light). If not it will show a red light. If so click the red light and change to green. If iTunes is not on the list then click the + sign at the bottom, click iTunes from the App list, Click Add, then OK on the Firewall window. Start iTunes and try again. By the way do you have your Mac backed up?
Make sure iTunes is not running. Then check whether the firewall might be stopping iTunes communicating properly
In 10.4 the firewall is in preferences/sharing. Click the firewall tab and then click Stop.
Start iTunes and check your redeem issue. If it doesn't work go back to the firewall page and click start. There's a couple more things to try. If it does work, still turn the firewall back on for the moment. We'll have to work out which setting to alter.
