Continuing the saga ................
Have just found the outlook.pst file in the registry and when right clicking on the entry, it brings up the opportunity to Rename the file - would this be the place that is being referred to in my previous post ?? If yes, is there any danger in altering an entry in the registry ?
Hope this makes sense.
Thanks again

What you doing in the registry renaming stuff? That probably wont help you do much .. except confuse Windows .. or prevent Outlook running at all. I will take a look at previous post to see what your problem is.
If it was a corrupted pst file, you should run the tool in Windows on it first.
Sounds like you need to uninstall Outlook again .. and clean out manually. When you run the tool .. you can browse to the repair tool and then open/select the pst. I repaired one recently for someone.
Save the old pst SOMEWHERE ELSE first.

Hi Albags
Have tried everything that has been suggested but to no avail."Renaming" was suggested by Computer shopper magazine.A friend also suggested deleting the outlook.pst file from the registry, uninstalling MS Office totally, and then a re-install. Any thoughts ?

Hi Zeb
I posted a couple of previous times onhere about this problem and the error messages are on those. I also sent an E mail to "Office help" at Computershopper magazine - it was their techy who told me the problem is a corrupt .pst file and that I could possibly rename the file or use a commercial porgramme to repair it. These progs are ok but very expensive.
Thanks for the input, will certainly have a look at Darksiderg.com
