According to katieP:... Ptsnoop is a backdoor virus that attaches itself to your PC if it finds active RAS connections on it, if a connection is present it installs itself to a PC or network and copies itself as Ptsnoop.exe in your Windows file (windows\system\directory). Then when you connect to the Internet it will access one of three websites, their addresses are as follows: http://setway.cjb.net,http://setway1.cjb.net,http://setone.cjb.net.
Once a connection is made to one of these websites a hacker or script can take control of your mouse and keyboard. You can find out more about this virus online at http://www.europe.f-secure.com/v-descs/ptsnoop.sht
ml.
Another possibility for ptsnoop is a program from Karen Kenworthy. Her website is www.karenware.com. It checks your system every 5 seconds (I think) to see which programs have started and terminated and writes the information to a log file. Check out her website for more details. There are also a heap of other tools there, they are all called pt something, the pt stands for power tools.
