DVD player

The volume of sound emitted when I play a DVD is pathetic. It requires the volume turned up to 100%, even in a small room. Can the DVD player be wired into my Hi-Fi to boost the signal, and if so, what leads do I require ?

Unless you have digital inputs on the Hi-fi, in which case that would be better.

you need either a rca cable or a digital coaxial cable or an optical cable depends what your hi fi inputs are

I have that too, but only on the Philips one downstairs, the JVC one I have has'normal' sound.
Drives me nuts!

Does the DVD player have its own built in volume control, maybe?

This may sound stupid but check the scart leads if they are attached that way. The volume once got really low on ours and it was because one of the scarts had been knocked and had come slightly loose

Yes indeed - all 'sound' answers - pardon the pun. Will take a careful look at both the DVD and my Hi-fi to verify the inputs. Will also experiment with changing the scart leads,since I have a couple of spares. Nil Desperandum.
