my mum and dad are looking at getting broadband. they want to use it only for surfing the web, emails and probably selliing on ebay..only a few hours a day really.

they want the cheapest but reliable they can find...but are also happy to change their landline phone provider if its a joint deal situation.

they are old 72 and 83 so dont want them having to phone them up all the time and having loads of hassle etc

any ideas where have the best deals for this?

cheers

thanks

Plusnet seem ok, from tales I hear. http://www.plus.net/

Cheep, like the budgie.
3 usb dongle £15 , 15gb connection fast, reliable aslong as they are near a 3 tower transmittor.

or you could get them Virgin media wireless box for £10 which is fast too many wires and modems are known to drop, get faulty etc

USB stick option far easier plus if its duff they can walk to 3 and tell them
Talk Talk is very good. I pay about £23/month and that includes my broadband, phone line rental and Anytime landline calls. The only extra is if you phone abroad or a mobile number. Don't think you'll get much better than that.
I have o2 broadband on its own for my laptop, at £7.95 per month no contract, and I can cancel when I want to. It suits me fine, I haven't had any other to compare it with, it maybe a bit slow at times. I wouldn't pay more, but it depends if you want to add your telephone and tv. to it then of course it would vary.
Do 3 give 15gb for £15? I have had an O2 dongle for two years which gives 2gb for 30 days at £15.20. More than enough for me as I very rarely download, but if I can get extra for the same money then I'm up for it. Only thing is, I've heard tales about 3, viz their reception is not very good, but those with experience might tell me otherwise.
Unfortunately, "cheap" and "hassle-free" don't often go together where broadband is concerned. The best internet providers (according to Which?) are Zen, O2, Be and Utility Warehouse; these recommendations take all-important customer service into account.
3 network is rubbish my OH has a mobile phone sitting here doing nothing, no reception for it, can't take it abroad and it isn't compatible with out Honda Accord handsfree. He was tied to a contract too. I couldn't guess what the broadband is like. The OH has had to buy a Pay as you go mobile with o2 to use instead.
Gran

How come you're paying £7.95 when I'm paying £15.20? Am I missing something?
Mike my daughter recently got the 3 dongle £15/month 15gb and it is fine, no problem. Gran must surely be paying line rental to someone on top of her £7.95??
3 is not rubbish, it's what I use 99% of the time and it's perfectly fine for general websurfing.
.......nevertheless, 3 does come at the bottom of just about every customer satisfaction survey I've seen.
