Somehow they have changed your "regional settings" to US instead of UK. You can change it back by going into your control panel and resetting it.
Think your keyboards been set to English USA. Go to Control Panel look for Region and Language. Re-set it all to English United Kingdom and click Apply.
snap

and put keyboard at a higher level, out of reach lol
It would'nt be something as simple as your ..Caps Lock key being in the wrong case.?
No as you can't have caps locks on number keys. It's definitely the regional settings.

Try a pound sign, does it come out as a # sign?
If it was done that easily then you almost certainly have the language bar down by the clock, it will have the 2 letters US at the moment, click on it and select UK.
Type in KEYBOARD in the search box in the start-up menu.tHEN FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS
some of these 2-year-olds are pretty smart, Chuck; they can do so much more than just clean the chimneys these days
Type in Keyboard in the search box for the start-up menu. then follow the instructions for re-setting the keys.
