ipod shuffle problem
15 Answers
When i connect my ipod shuffle to my computer I am asked whether I want to scan and fix it ? When I then try to update my ipod shuffle, after just a few tracks have been copied, It stops and gives 3 error messages saying
"there is not enough room on the ipod to copy all of the requested files. itunes will copy as many files as possible",
"attempting to copy to the disk failed. The disk could not be read from or written to", and "itunes could not copy to the ipod because the file could not be read or written"
Is there any way to fix this problem ?

In the past I have had to restore the settings, and iTunes would give the option of syncing all tracks etc, and when I have confirmed I got the same message as the first one above. When I let it continue it chose a random tracklist up to the iPod's capacity.
I have never had the second message appear, but I'm guessing that your music library exceeds the capacity of your Shuffle.

''but you would lose your library..apart from any you have bought from itunes''
No you won't. You'll lose everything that is currently on the ipod but it won't effect your iTunes library content.
Just make a 'playlist' with all the tracks you want on the ipod and recopy over from that playlist once you've reformatted the ipod (settings > restore).
