How do I scan a Document/Documents from my HP Deskjet F380 to my PC ( Packard Bell ) Vista Home Basic.
Do I have to use a Free downloadable Programme to enable me to do this.

It might be in your Programs. Reload the software you have & file on your desktop (so you can find it). This may solve the probs

A picture will scan straight into a photo program ... like IrfanView .. or PSP ... Coral .. whatever .. by selecting 'Twain Source' in that program.
A document 'can' be scanned as a picture ...and saved in greyscale maybe .. but is usually imported into something like Scansoft (with character recognition) then saved as any of a variety of formats .. like word doc, etc. HP just integrate their own software (supposedly)
What do you see for the HP scanner or printer in Device Manager? (Tick the View/ 'show hidden devices' setting. You may see something in 'Imaging Devices) Check for unknown or yellow entries.

2.
Double-click Local Disc (C:) .
3.
Double-click Program Files .
4.
Double-click HP .
5.
Double-click Digital Imaging .
6.
Double-click Bin .
7.
Locate and double-click one of the following files. You will only have one to choose from.

This will launch the HP Scan application.

Select New Scan , and then change any desired settings to the scan.
9.
Click Accept to save the scan to the desired location.

Follow these steps if you need to save the scan as another file type, such as a .PDF:

Save the new scan as the desired file type.
