Minor printer problem

Don't know where the original query has gone so here's a copy. My Lexmark 4900 Series printer is working well in Win 7 but has lost its small display screen. What I have now are varying shades of grey. Any suggestions as to how I can restore a bit of colour and detail, would be appreciated.
