I'm pondering changing my ISP but the one stumbling block is that I use my ISP mail address everywhere

As a pre-emptive strike, I'd like to set up a new mail identity NOT connected to any ISP - ideally POP3 but definately NOT web based

Does anyone know of a good value POP3 mail provider?

Thanks

The most popular free email service, which has POP3 access, is Google's Gmai:

Some people don't like the way that Gmail automatically scan both outgoing and incoming mail, in order to append 'relevant'(?) advertising material:

Mt own preference is to use Gawab. If you configure it properly, you'll get a totally free service without any advertising material (either inbound or outbound) whatsoever. Full instructions for setting up POP3 access, with a Gawab account, are in paragraph 3, et seq, of my first post on this thread:

(NB: The final bit, about enabling 'server authentication' is important! If you don't follow that instruction you won't be able to use the account).
