trying to unlock motorola

i purchases online, instructions how to unlock my motorola v525, so i can use any sim card in it.  i am supposed to follow the instructions and then i will be sent a password or code to type into the phone, however, when i am plugging the usb cable into my pc and turning the phone on it boot loader mode, a bubble keeps popping up saying "the device has malfunctioned and windows does not recognise it".  can anyone help me??? i have emailed the company that sold it to me but not heard anything back yet.

iv just had my v300 unlocked the shop used a CLIP,it took bout 10 secs but needs updatin every so often,it only cost a fiver for them 2 do it so get ya hand in bloody handbag lol,also they dont use labtops now 2 unblock its easier with these magic boxes which cost bout 80 quid
