Well finally got above 40" tv - got a professional to tune it. At first Freeview TV went fine for about a week but then I decided to get an old video fixed and he came back and tuned that in for me too. Since then last Friday Freeview picture on BBc1 and 2 started to break up and finally went blank. Turned off TV at socket and picture came on fine on Saturday but through Sat and yesterday picture was breaking up and other stations were affected too.

Anybody know anything before I get the man back what has happened.

Is your area due to go fully digital this year?

The reason I ask is that when they switch off the analogue signal they will boost the digital freeview signal by between ten and twenty times. Your problems will then disappear.

You could watch troublesome channels on analogue until then.

thanks Hopkirk for that bit of assurance - I am unsure if my area is to go digital it could be next year. The analogue channels are bad - also my point is my sister who lives the other side of town never never has this problem with her Freeview.
Perhaps your aerial isn't perfectly aligned, or a fat pigeon has been bouncing on it.

Your sister's house may have a better unobstructed 'view' of the transmitter.

You can find out when you go digital here
