checking system - free space etc

I'm using Windows XP home (i *hate* it) and I need to find out how many Gbs I have free.  I've tried going through control panel>system but no luck. 

This is probably very simple to do but I can't work it out!

Just right click your C drive and select properties. The pie chart will give you a fairly accurate figure

double click the MY COMPUTER icon on the desktop and it shows how much space you have
