How to remove an Apple ID from my iPhone?

I bought a iPhone from my mate no long back, and his Apple ID is still on my iPhone and it keeps popping up. It's very annoying.

I've even logged into my Apple ID on the iPhone, and even that hasn't got rid of it. I've even reset the settings, but still no good. So how do I get rid of it for good?

I've seen the answer below, and that looks good. But - I won't lose my settings such as what phone network I'm connected to, as I'm on pay-as-you-go? And will I lose all my music??

Sorted it; all you have to do is reset your phone to factory settings.

all you have to do is go on your iphone, ipod, ipad setting>store> click on the apple id and click sign out
