Sky plus HD recording problems
4 Answers
Our Sky plus HD box is out of guarantee. We have been getting repeated failed recordings. The reason is often given as ``clashed `` - when it clearly wasn’t. Also no signal is shown when the Sky box has been working perfectly. There is under 15% left on the hard disk – could this be the cause?
Is there a way of reformatting the hard drive – I appreciate we will lose all or pre-recorded programmes?
If I buy a new terabyte Sky plus HD recorder, Is it a case of just switching the two over?

Hi
That is a typical sign of power supply problems .. not necessarily HDD failure. You need to get a replacement power supply kit and install it .. or send it off . or get sky to replace the box ... at a price.
The kit is upgraded with better components. 2-3 years average life for HD Thomson & older boxes. Some reputedly better than others .. like Pace.

Answer to last one ...Yes. No more than 110 quid tho. They usually do exchange tho for less money.

If the box is only just out of guarantee why not try and get them to repair it free of charge. They give you 12 months warranty on these things but they should be expected to last longer than that. They know that too and sometimes they will help if they think it means keeping a customer. It's worth a try.
