Ok, maybe behind ?the times so thought I would now open a Facebook account
but I dont like the idea of giving my actual email password. Surely this can leave me open to someone accessing my account.
Also it said my secuirty was low , yet I am fully secure with my online internet secuirty.
I know millions are on facebook BUT?

Open a throw away email address with someone like 'hotmail'...takes a few minutes.
Use a different password?

You only have to give your email password if you use the friend finders that rely on searching your email address book, just to sign up and use facebook you don't need to give your email password
.
Didn't know that Chuck...
You can set your security settings on FB so that only "Friends" can see your e-mail address. Either that or just set up an e-mail account that you have no intention of using other than to set up the FB account.

Sorry chuck but dont quiet that as when I tried to open my account it automatically asked for my password. Why would that be needed anyway, it for my use to get into my email?
OK, I've just created a new account... (there is now a Chuck Fickens FB account, LOL)

On the first page you have to enter a email address that your FB account is associated with and where your notifications will be sent, the password you have to enter here is your password for signing into facebook and can be totally different from your email password.

when you get to the next page, which is asking you to search for friends using your email you just click skip this step at the bottom rather than providing your email password.

That's it, it's a thingymebob, I'd forgotten the technical name for it :-p
I have never given away my email password anywhere and yet FB are suggesting I befriend people I emailed on one occasion years ago. Grrrr. And who - nota bene - are not in my "circle" in ANY way.
