3D TV

Hi all
Quick question. How does 3D TV with passive glasses work? This is the sort you now find in pubs showing sport in 3D.
I understand how colour separation systems work and how the alternating display with active glasses work. I just don't get the passive glasses system.
thanks

hi scotman.
we had to buy a new tv a couple of months ago so thought we'd get 3d.
Weve got the samsung 8000 series led with active glasses and have had no problems with the tv at all. The 3d player had to go back as it was faulty but we were given a full cinema surround package as a replacement so wont complain.
The tv as a standard HD tv is great, picture is really sharp, sound excellent etc. The 3d films are getting more plentiful but we also watch quite a few on the sky 3d channel.
the glasses arent cheap but we went for rechargables for ease.
in short we love the TV, and friends who visit always ask to watch it lol
