All too soon it is my last week to set the links. I have enjoyed my month as "Regal Roslyn" and would like to thank gen2 for all his help this month and indeed every month. Until you actually set the links yourself, you don't actually realise all the work that goes on behind the scenes!

Another of our favourite holiday destinations is Turkey. We have been 3 times, once staying at Gumbet, near Bodrum (site of the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus - one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World) and twice staying at the Montana Pine Resort near Olu Deniz in the South West of Turkey. The Montana Pine Hotel is built 400m above sea level amidst pine-forest hills and has a magnificent view of the lagoon down at Olu Deniz. It is 4*/5* but even now is very reasonably priced for such a fantastic hotel. We would thoroughly recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting Turkey for a holiday. The hotel has its own minibus which takes guests down into Olu Deniz & the beach daily. The grounds round the hotel are immaculate with gardeners working in them till dark. The accommodation is in octagonal buildings set around swimming pools and with excellent food the hotel was so perfect that we just had to go again the following year. The hotel is situated at the start point of the Lycian Way, a recently popular 500 km. walking trail to Antalya. Early morning was a good time for a short stroll to see the wild mountain goats. The pine forests round the hotel have an abundance of wild life including wild tortoises that occasionally wander into the hotel grounds, and wild boar which thankfully stayed hidden for most of the time, although we did meet one on our walk back up the hotel mountain road one evening, after we had a stroll down to the nearby town of Hisaronu ( nearest place for shops and bars). I think it was more frightened of us as it thundered away into the undergrowth at a rate of knots!

Out of all the excursions and trips we've been on in various destinations in Europe, those in Turkey are among the best and are still good value for money. The first time we were in Turkey, John was ill and was unable to go to Ephesus, so I've now been twice. Marble white Ephesus is one of the best well-preserved ancient cities in the world. Ephesus contains the largest collection of Roman ruins in the eastern Mediterranean with much still to be excavated. The view of the Celsius Library as you walk down the marble road is amazing - you can really imagine the Romans having walked before you so long ago. The city is also famous for the Temple of Artemis another of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. All that remains of the Temple is a single column now home to a stork's nest! A short walk down Harbour Street takes you to the magnificent amphitheatre with 25,000 seats. The theatre was used not only for concerts and plays, but also for religious, political and philosophical discussions and for gladiator and animal fights.

Another great excursion if you are in Turkey Is Pamukkale - translates as cotton castle in Turkish. The city consists of hot springs and terraces of carbonate minerals left by the flowing water. From a distance the calcium carbonate slopes look like they are snow covered. It is now a World Heritage Site and wearing shoes anywhere on the slopes and in the pools is forbidden to protect the deposits. The water of Pamukkale is famous for its benefits to the eyes and skin. Mineral water sources from the thermal springs collect in the "Sacred Pool" inside Pamukkale Hotel where you can pay an entrance fee and bathe in the warm waters. The ancient Greco-Roman city of Hierapolis is built on top of the hot springs and is well worth a visit too.

As you can see we certainly enjoy our holidays. We like a mixture of just relaxing by the pool and on the beach some days, whilst other days we like to be culture-vultures!. Nothing planned yet for our next holiday but Italy has been mentioned. We know nothing of the area so if anyone has any advice for us....

According to normal practice, for the everyday running of MM, I shall follow this rule on word length, in that each of my pre-selected link words contains at least four letters and at most eight letters. Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one of your attempts!

Each of the selected link words may go in front of, or behind my challenge word.
The competition will officially close on Sunday Evening at 7.00pm, when gen2 will declare my pre-selected words and then apply the same rules for awarding points that have been applied during all MM Link Games in the past. My set of four words to have their links predicted should appear below at 9.00am.
